I’m beginning to play a few shows with my jazz standards trio, 3 on the Tree. That’s myself on guitar and vocals, Jeffrey Kane on upright bass, and Dan Kruse on tenor saxophone. If you’re wondering what the band name refers to, (for those of you either born after 1970 or who have not developed an appreciation for old cars), it is a three speed manual transmission where the shifter is actually located on the steering column. When I moved to Oregon in 1990 my boyfriend at the time had an old Ford Econoline with three on the tree. We spent an entire summer living out of that van and driving it around the country.
